There are many things that can distract you while fishing causing you to miss many opportunities to catch more fish.  Whether you are baiting or rigging another pole, reeling in another line, or just talking to the person next to you, having an alarm to tell you when the fish are biting is a plus.

While many other strike sensing systems already exist, this one was designed to help primarily at night when most bites are missed.  I believe that the reel lighting system is especially helpful in preventing missed opportunities.
